The share of "green" generation in Ukraine increased to 8%. Renewable energy (RES) controls about 26% of the total money turnover of the electricity market. This was announced by Dmitry Kovalenko, a member of the National Commission for Energy and Utilities Regulation (NEURC).

According to him, in 2019, "green" generation in Ukraine increased by 11.6%. The regulator estimates the total capacity of renewable energy sources as of April 22, 2020 at 7117 MW. Another 1000 MW, according to the information of the State Enterprise Guaranteed Buyer, is planned to be commissioned by July, added Kovalenko.
In general, if nothing is done, we will have more than 18,000 MW [if all the "green" power plants that have signed the pre-PPA are launched]. Already today, we can potentially have days when some hours will be closed only by "green" energy, - he said on May 5 at a round table with people's deputies. At the end of April, Acting Energy Minister Olga Buslavets announced that the Cabinet plans to stop the construction of new solar and wind power plants.
The Ministry of Economy and Energy promises to reduce the so-called "green" tariff for renewable energy sources in the near future.
According to the data provided by the State Energy Efficiency Agency, at the end of 2019, the capacity of "green" energy of 6.8 GW was commissioned in Ukraine, which is three times more than a year earlier. Over the past five years, investors have invested 4.8 billion euros in this area.
