During the third quarter of 2018, Ukraine developed "green energy" 2.4 times faster than last year.
In Ukraine, in the third quarter of 2018, new generating facilities using renewable energy sources (RES) with a total capacity of 160.1 MW were commissioned. This is 2.4 times higher than the figure recorded for the same period in 2017, the press service of the National Commission, which regulates energy and utilities, reports.

It is noted that 97% of all the commissioned capacities are wind (WPP) and solar (SES) power plants. According to the regulator, the power of the launched wind farms is 7 MW, the SES - 148.8 MW.

The remaining 3% of all commissioned capacities are biogas stations (3.6 MW) and small hydropower plants (0.7 MW).

Thus, as of October 1 of this year, WPPs operating in Ukraine have a total capacity of 522.4 MW, the total installed capacity of SES is 1096.4 MW, biomass stations are 43.8 MW, biogas is 44.6 MW, small hydropower plants is 96.4 MW.

In general, the total capacity of the green energy facilities in Ukraine is 1803.6 MW (excluding the occupied Crimea), which is 484.1 more than in the third quarter of the previous year.

The leaders in the areas in which RES facilities are being actively launched are the Kherson, Kirovograd and Zaporizhzhia regions.

At present, the share of renewable energy in electricity production in Ukraine is 1.8%, the share in the total cost of electricity is 8.3%.
