As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to disrupt the global economy, TEEMA and Japan Management Association (JMA) co-hosted “Taiwan-Japan Electrical and Electronic Components Online B2B Matchmaking Event”, at which 12 meetings were conducted through video conferencing at TEEMA’s Taipei office and JMA’s Tokyo office on April 25, 2022. The goal of the matchmaking event is to assist Taiwanese electrical and electronic manufacturing SMEs in promoting their products and increasing brand awareness in the global market. Meanwhile, a physical exhibition was held in Tokyo, showcasing Taiwan’s electrical and electronic components for nearly one month as of April 25.

Japanese Corporations and Taiwanese SMEs Join Online Business Matchmaking Meetings
The Taiwan-Japan online B2B matchmaking event was co-hosted by Roger Liao, Vice President of TEEMA, and Chiga Maruo, Director of Industry Development Center at JMA. Japanese companies such as Mitsubishi Power, Ltd., DENSO Corporation and Digick Corporation (Digi-K) had one-on-one meetings with 9 Taiwanese companies including Vecow, Hu Lane, CviLux, Kinsun Industries, Waffer Technology, Highly Electric, Max Echo Technology, Lead Year Enterprise and Shin Yao. Products presented include edge AI solutions, injection molding and die casting, limit switches, micro switches, proximity switches, multilayer chip beads, multilayer chip inductors, automotive wires and connectors, waterproof connectors, registered jacks (RJ), antennas, stamping parts, power supply units (PSU), automotive electronics, and also plastic and rubber parts.
Representatives from Mitsubishi Power pointed out that as carbon neutrality has become a crucial global issue in recent years, many countries are attaching great importance to energy development such as developing energy-efficient equipment and smart energy management systems, and Japan is no exception. DENSO Corporation’s products range from automotive electronics, electric vehicles to smart factories. The company would like to extend their collaboration with other companies and institutions to integrate different hardware, software and technologies. Another Japanese company—Digick Corporation (Digi-K) specializes in 3D printing service, and appreciates the high quality of Taiwan’s electrical and electronic products as well as the flexibility and promptness presented while doing business with Taiwanese companies.
During the meetings, both sides discussed potential trade and cooperation opportunities. Participants from the Japanese companies shared what their R&D engineers were looking for in terms of quality of electrical and electronic components. In addition, they made suggestions about the research and development of suitable products for the Japanese market, which benefits these Taiwanese manufacturers that are highly interested in expanding their business in Japan.

Physical Exhibition Held in Tokyo along with Online B2B Matchmaking Event
With the aim of impressing Japanese companies with Taiwanese products, TEEMA invited its members who had signed up for the online business matchmaking event to send their company brochures and products to the JMA office in Tokyo, where products from these Taiwanese electrical and electronic manufacturers were on display for nearly one month. On April 25, 2022, the opening day of the exhibition, staff from TEEMA’s Japan office helped to present Taiwanese companies and products to visitors, and collected their feedback. During the one-month exhibition, JMA invited professionals from Japanese companies who went to its Tokyo office for meetings or training to visit the exhibition, and put them in touch with Taiwanese companies in which they were interested. The physical exhibition enabled visitors to see and touch real products from Taiwan, which contributed to more chances of closing business deals.
