Promising figures, greater potential for Taiwan telecommunication industry in 2008
CES, Las Vegas January 8, 2008 – Market Intelligence Center (MIC) has estimated that the total market value of Taiwan’s telecommunication service industry will reach NT$1.4 trillion (US$ 4.5 billion) in 2008. This remarkable figure is generated from steady growth in smart phone, GPS, STB, VOIP, WiMAX, UWB, WSN and Power Line Communication (PLC).
Since 2006, Taiwan has stood firmly as the number one supplier for a diversified range of telecommunication products: WLAN (95%), xDSL CPE (82%), SOHO Router (80%) and Cable CPE (72%) with reference to global output value, according to Taiwan’s Industrial Economics & Knowledge Center (IEK).
Taiwan-based producers have established reputation in terms of quality, technology sophistication and production flexibility. Many have formed close collaboration with international players such as Nokia, Fujitsu and Motorola. Most producers are export-driven, while the top three export market for Taiwanese producers are Europe (42.9%), North America (23.3%) and Mainland China (12.7%).
Apart from the majority of OEM producers, Zyxel Communications, a renowned Taiwan-based company for complete broadband access solution with strong R&D backbone, is an example of the emerging “made by Taiwan” brands on the global stage. Zyxel has been marked as the 7th place of the 2007 Top Taiwan Global Brands by UK-based branding consultancy Interbrand.
Taiwan’s strengths and advantages in broadband and telecommunications will be highlighted at Broadband Taiwan 2008 on Oct, 7-11 2008, a showcase dedicated to Wi-Fi, Wireless, GPS, VOIP, other communication equipments and services.
